Enumerative and Algebraic Combinatorics

Bruce Sagan

The Conference on Enumerative and Algebraic Combinatorics was hosted by the University of Florida from 8:00am on Sunday, February 25 until 12:35pm on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 (this allowed participants departing from the Gainesville airport to have lunch and then comfortably make any flights from 3:00pm onward). The conference was timed to coincide with Bruce Sagan‘s 70th birthday (March 29, 2024) and retirement, which was  celebrated at a conference banquet on Sunday and with a plenary talk delivered by Sagan on Monday.

Accommodation

The conference reserved blocks of rooms at the AC Hotel near campus at a rate of $159 per night, and the Hampton Inn in downtown Gainesville at $169 per night. To obtain these special conference rates, it was necessary for attendees to book their rooms through the conference.

Travel

Participants were encouraged to fly directly to Gainesville Regional Airport (GNV). While this option usually requires connecting flights, is still far more convenient than flying to the other nearby airports since there are no cheap and reliable shuttle services. That said, Gainesville is also within a two-hour drive of Orlando International Airport (MCO), Tampa International Airport (TPA), Jacksonville International Airport (JAX), and Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB). It’s often cheaper to book through these airports, but remember to budget at least $100 for the round trip to Gainesville, probably more.

Registration

Registration for the conference was closed on January 15, 2024.

The registration fee for the conference was $200, which included the banquet on Sunday and reception on Monday. To pay the registration fee, participants were asked to mail a check to the Department of Mathematics.
